THE WEST MEMPHIS THREE

Some big news is coming on The West Memphis Three this morning!

I’ve posted about them many times before on this blog…

Rumours are swirling that the three who have been in prison for 18 years may be released…stay tuned!

The West Memphis Three

Johnny Depp was a featured speaker last night on “48 Hours Mystery” (Which happens to be my favourite show on television).

He was speaking out on behalf of The West Memphis Three. If you’re not sure of the story - here’s my own short overview.

Three teenagers were charged in the brutal murders of three young boys. The boys were found hog-tied and brutally murdered in a ditch. The only problem? There is no evidence against these teens. The crime happened in 1993 which means these teens may have been wrongfully convicted for the past seventeen years.

Fingers from the Arkansas police were instantly pointed at the ‘outcast’ teenagers in the neighbourhood - the ones who had long and weird haircuts, listened to heavy metal and read Stephen King novels. The police stated that these were Satanic rituals.

There has never been any evidence against the boys except the confession of one of them. The confession came from one boy who is mentally handicapped after being interrogated by police for hours. He later retracted his confession.

The police in this case lost evidence - evidence which could have DNA and set the West Memphis Three free.

Who was “Mr.Bojangles” the man seen in the local restaurant’s bathroom covered in blood and mud the night the boys disappeared?

Why was one of the boys step-father’s hair found tied into the knots?

Seventeen years later, one teen is facing the death sentence, the others are spending life in prison.

Even parents of the deceased children are now joining the fight and saying they believe they may be innocent.

This is a truly sad case with an interesting story of injustice and possible corruption.
